 Hugh B. McCormick, III has been a long time resident of the Virginia peninsula area. He attended Washington & Lee University, and received the degree of Bachelor of Science in 1989. He attended the Pettit College of Law at Ohio Northern University, and received the degree of Juris Doctor in 1994. Mr. McCormick became associated with the law firm of Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein, in 1994 after graduating from law school. Since this time, he has devoted the vast majority of his practice to representing asbestos victims and their families.

Mr. McCormick has extensive trial experience before the Office of Administrative Law Judges for the U.S. Department of Labor. In practicing before this Court, Mr. McCormick has recovered benefits for his clients under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act for such occupational diseases as asbestosis, asbestos-induced lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestos-induced laryngeal cancer.

In addition to his work in the area of asbestos-related lung disease, Mr. McCormick practices in the areas of general personal injury, general product liability, and federal and state workers’ compensation. He is admitted to practice before the Virginia Supreme Court, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, and the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition, Mr. McCormick is a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association.
