Andrew Dean became a Partner with Patten, Wornom, Hatten & Diamonstein, L.C. December 01, 2021.  Mr. Dean joined PWHD after graduating from The George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. and is an attorney with the firm’s Complex Commercial and Employment Litigation Practice Group.  After spending several years with the firm, Mr. Dean stepped away to serve first with Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU) and then as General Counsel to the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Directorate for Science and Technology.  In these positions he provided counsel on subjects related to import-export control, digital exploitation, preservation of digital evidence, Other Transactional Authorities (or OTAs), Space law, a range of Research, Development, Test & Evaluation subjects.  Andrew returned to the firm in early 2020.

Andrew has extensive experience litigating cases in state and federal courts. His practice areas include complex commercial litigation cases involving science and technology (digital, biological, chemical, government contracts), commercial construction, general tort, and employment, cybersecurity and privacy related claims.  

Andrew graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from California Polytechnic State University after which he completed Navy Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida. After receiving his commission as an officer in the United States Navy, Andrew was assigned to fly the F/A 18 Super Hornet Strike Fighter Jet in Lemoore, CA. Andrew is currently a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy Reserve where he serves as a Cryptologic Warfare Officer assigned to Navy Cyber Defense Operations Command’s reserve unit.
