But companies continued to use the mineral in manufacturing and construction, failing to inform the public of the serious health risks associated with asbestos.

Throughout 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, major journals published articles on asbestosis and how to protect workers and control the release of asbestos dust.

And by the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, reports of a previously unheard-of asbestos cancer, mesothelioma, were published.
